Juanetta Jean Bradley, 67, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018.
Juanetta Jean Gilbreath Bradley was born on August 21, 1951, in Honey Grove, Texas, as the second eldest child and daughter of Louis and Billie Faye Smith Gilbreath. She graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1969 and was a former Carver Football Queen. She later graduated from Amarillo College and took part in one of the college’s advertising campaigns--“I got my start at Amarillo College,” featured on billboards throughout the Amarillo area.
Juanetta married the late Robert Bradley, Jr., and lived in Greece and El Paso, Texas during this union while Robert served in the United States Armed Forces. Juanetta later joined with Donald Shanklin until his death. She enjoyed working in the retail industry, where she was employed by Montgomery Ward and later, Dillard’s, for more than 20 years.
Having grown up in a traditional Christian household, Juanetta became a lifetime member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church and an active member of her community. She was abundantly loved by her family members, friends, and co-workers, and her laughter, smile and warm personality will be greatly missed by all. Juanetta always will be remembered for her strength, courageous heart, and her “I can do all things,” approach to life. She spent her most recent years living in the Houston, Texas area with two of her children, Yourbra and Bertram.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Robert Bradley, Jr., and Donald Shanklin, Sr., a brother, Dewayne Gilbreath and a sister, Patricia Gilbreath.
Juanetta leaves to cherish her memories, five daughters, Denise Guess, Phaleria Hollins, Paula DeLisa Shanklin, Kendra Gibson and Christina Sisneros, five sons, Bertram Bradley, Donald Shanklin Jr., Dewayne Gordon, Abdul Shanklin, and Lance Guess, 25 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, three brothers, Louis Ray (Mary) Gilbreath, Wardell (Audrey) Gilbreath, Gilbert (Wanda) Gregg, two sisters, Brenda Gilbreath and Ramona Gilbreath, two aunts, Vurnell Gilbreath and Bertha Bowers, an uncle, Robert Musgrove and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
